Colin Noble News
Ecurie Ecosse Young Driver Colin Noble makes his European debut for the team this weekend at the historic Monza circuit just 20km outside Milan, Italy, in the first round of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup.
Driving the same Ligier LMP3 car that he drove to a dominant double victory at Donington Park in the equivalent British LMP3 series 3 weeks ago, Colin will pair up for the first time with 2016 Radical Masters Champion Tony Wells as they compete in a 20 strong field of LMP3 and GT3 cars.
Following a strong LMP3 race winning debut at Donington Park last weekend (22-23rd April), Ecurie Ecosse Young Driver Colin Noble will drive the Radical Works team entry at the first round of the 2017 Radical Masters European series, being held this weekend 29-30th April at Portimao circuit in Portugal’s Algarve region.
This weekend saw a new chapter written in the long and rich history of Ecurie Ecosse with a return to sports car racing in the Henderson LMP3 Cup Championship at Donington Park.
Ecurie Ecosse opted to join this new championship this year, fielding the #79 Ligier entry with Colin Noble and Alasdair McCaig. With the return, came a sensational first race – and by no means easy – victory in the fledging championship.
Noble to compete in 2017 European and UK Le Mans Prototype series.
Colin Noble will race a new Ligier in both the European Michelin Le Mans Cup www.lemanscup.com and the British LMP3 Championship www.lmp3cup.co.uk for the famous Ecurie Ecosse Team. In the UK, Noble will be partnered by Ecurie Ecosse director and British GT race winner Alasdair McCaig, while for the European series Colin’s co-driver will be 2016 Radical European Masters Champion Tony Wells.
Very much looking to the future of the sport, Ecurie Ecosse announced its 2017 Young Driver’s Initiative that will see Gordon Mutch and Colin Noble join the programme for the coming year. In addition, former F1 driver, three-times Le Mans winner and Ecurie Ecosse driver Allan McNish joins as Ambassador to the programme.
Assen may well be better known for hosting the Dutch round of the MotoGP series - but for one weekend every summer it is the roar of car engines that excites the passionate local fans. In the first qualifying session, Colin’s fastest lap was barely 8/10ths of a second shy of pole position. Still, this was good enough for P9 on the grid.
