Following a standout season in 2017 that saw Ecurie Ecosse shine in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and claim title honours in the Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup in the UK, the Nielsen-run squad return to both series and expand further its programme in 2018 as they step up to compete in the European Le Mans Series with their sights firmly set on securing a Le Mans entry for 2019.
Rising Scottish star Colin Noble continues his impressive progress through the motorsport ranks and in a busy campaign for the 21-year-old, he will compete in all three championships with the team.
Penalty denies Ecurie Ecosse dream Le Mans Cup finale in Portimao
The final round of the Le Mans Cup proved to be bitter-sweet for Ecurie Ecosse as the team travelled to Portimao this weekend (20-22 October). A strong run in qualifying and then a great first stint from Tony Wells ultimately yielded a fifth-place finish as Colin Noble struggled with the handling of his Ligier.
Ecurie Ecosse brought home further silverware from the Michelin Le Mans Cup following a great run to second position in round four of the series at Paul Ricard at the weekend (25 – 26 August, 2017).
The programme started well with Colin Noble and Tony Wells recording the third fastest time in the opening practice session, despite contact from behind that required a change of the rear floor ahead of the second session.
Ecurie Ecosse enjoyed a near-perfect race weekend at Snetterton at the weekend (12-13 August) securing a further race win – the sixth of the season – whilst claiming the inaugural Henderson Insurance Brokers LMP3 Cup Championship with two rounds remaining.
Following a dream debut double win at Donington Park, the Ecurie Ecosse duo of Colin Noble and Alasdair McCaig will be looking to continue their top form this weekend at the second round of the Henderson Insurance sponsored LMP3 Cup.
Having secured a double victory on their LMP3 debut last month at Donington Park, Ecurie Ecosse had high expectations for their debut in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this weekend (12-13 May, 2017) at the historic Grand Prix circuit of Monza where Colin Noble was sharing the car with 2016 Radical European Masters Champion Tony Wells. The pair duly delivered with a superb victory to start their new European campaign in style.
