Following a dream debut double win at Donington Park, the Ecurie Ecosse duo of Colin Noble and Alasdair McCaig will be looking to continue their top form this weekend at the second round of the Henderson Insurance sponsored LMP3 Cup.
The UK championship rolls into the Kent circuit as this weekend’s headline event around the challenging 3.9km Grand Prix circuit. The full “GP” circuit is only used a few times a year, and so this is the first time Colin will have raced on this layout, which is regarded by competitors as one of the most challenging and exhilarating circuits on the calendar, with an average speed of over 100mph and three high G-force compressions as the track winds through the Kent woodland.
Colin, fresh from a debut win in the European LMP3 championship at Monza last weekend, said “I’m really looking forward to Brands, carrying momentum from weekend to weekend, it’ll be another weekend of close racing but I’m up for it”.
The UK series run Pirelli tyres, whereas the European series use Michelin. Colin commented “The team found a great set up for both types of tyre, we’ve benefited from that giving us consistent tyre performance, and I hope we can do the same on this very different circuit”.
Team mate Alasdair McCaig has experience of the GP circuit, with 7th place in the 2016 British GT championship round, so will be passing on his experience to Ecurie Ecosse Young Driver Colin as the practice and qualifying sessions unfold towards the two one-hour races on Saturday and Sunday.
